A Live Photo is a still image with a short motion clip attached. Cullibrate treats it as one photo: the still owns selection, rating, ordering, filters, and export, and the motion clip never appears as a separate video.
Identifying Live Photos
- Live Photos from Apple Photos or iCloud Photos show a LIVE badge in the grid and filmstrip. On macOS, the main preview also provides the playback control.
- The import builder has a Live Photos filter chip so you can stage only Live Photos. On a Mac, the workspace and Refine filters also include Live Photos under Apple Photos.
Playing motion on macOS
- In the main preview, hover the LIVE badge to play the motion, or click it to toggle playback.
- Press Shift + Space to toggle playback from the keyboard. Plain Space keeps its usual zoom behaviour.
- Press and hold on the photo to play while you hold; release to return to the still.
- For a managed collection, the motion clip downloads from iCloud the first time you play it. Playback is not available while zoomed in.
Exporting Live Photos
- Original and Edited exports copy the still only.
- For archive and Ingest as archive include the still, the paired video, and adjustment data. Offload always uses the archive policy, so on a Mac a Live Photo is deleted only after its video has been exported and verified.
Live Photos on Windows
iCloud for Windows does not deliver the motion video for Live Photos, so Cullibrate cannot play it on Windows. The Live filter and grid and filmstrip badges still identify them; the main preview does not show a playback control that cannot work.
- The still image is fully supported. You can cull, rate, tag, export, offload, and delete it like any other photo.
- Exports and offloads on Windows contain the still only. The Offload form explains this before anything is removed.
